1st Dan test
All previous katas. Bassai Dai + Kanku Dai + 1 additional Kata chosen by student.
The student as part of the 1st Dan test has to display their ability/knowledge of basic techniques by instructing a class of Students. This may be a 1 hour lesson.
Assistant Intructor test. (AI's test)
Adult AI's 18 years+(teaching all students)
Junior AI's 16&17 years (teaching juniors only upto and including 5th Kyu)
After the Student has passed the 1st Dan test if they wish to progress to be an Assistant Instructor they will be interviewed by the BKC Chief Instructor. The correct attitude is crucial.
The Trainee Assistant Instructor will be trained to the expected level of ability over a period of time decided by BKC Chief Instructor.
Any qualified Assistant Instructor will be Insured by the club at the clubs expense. They must hold a valid recognised first aid certificate. They must also produce a CRB certificate (any fee's for this are to be paid by them) prior to being allowed to instruct a class alone.
Funding towards a basic first aid course may be available, Talk to BKC Chief Instructor when you pass the Assistant Instructor test.
